FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is in Los Angeles, but I can magically be wherever you are in California! That’s the beauty of virtual therapy.

What are your hours?

My schedule constantly varies depending on my availability. I typically work Tuesdays through Fridays. I am flexible and will do my best to accommodate your schedule.

How long are sessions, and how often do they take place?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes, and couples’ sessions are 65 minutes. Sessions typically take place weekly.

Do you work on weekends?

Nope, that’s when I work on solving my own problems.

Do you offer a sliding scale or take insurance?

No and no, and I’m sorry to say no twice. However, I can provide you with a superbill at the end of each month that you can submit to your insurance company to see if they’ll reimburse you for a portion of the amount. Often it works.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours’ notice of cancellation via email, phone, or text. I will charge you a full session fee for cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead of time.

Do you see clients in person?

I do not see clients in person. I see clients virtually on a secure platform that is very easy to use.

I’m a remote therapist because it works for my clients and me. I haven’t found that anything ilost in not meeting in person. I believe that you gain more because I get an intimate view into people’s lives that I usually wouldn’t be privy to, which informs the work.

Clients don’t have to deal with travel time, traffic, or parking. There’s no need to dress up; in fact, many of my clients come to virtual therapy in their pajamas. Schedules are more flexible when meeting virtually, and pets can attend therapy sessions as well. That’s the best selling point!

How do I make a phone consultation appointment?

Call me! Email me! Hit one of the “Book a Free Consultation” buttons on my website! Any of those options will work. I’m accessible and will promptly respond because I’m a type-A.

What can I expect from the initial phone consultation?

This 15-minute call allows me to get to know you a little bit by asking you some questions about what you’re seeking therapy for and a bit of your current life situation. This call is a chance for us to see if we’re a good fit and get a sense of each other.

Research shows that the connection between client and therapist is the most significant determining factor in therapy success, so making sure we have chemistry is huge. If it feels right, we can schedule our first session. If it’s not a match for some reason, I can refer you to some great therapists I trust.

With what types of clients do you typically work?

I work with adults of all ages, and I work with couples of all types.

Why bother? I mean, does therapy work anyway?

I get it. It’s daunting to think about seeking therapy. All the talking, emotional work, and the money make it even more daunting. AND – it’s 100% worth it.

If done right – I happen to feel strongly about the fact that I do therapy right (can’t do much about your part) – then it’s the best investment you’ll ever make. Because change will occur, and the way you’ve been doing it hasn’t necessarily worked for you, or you wouldn’t be here.

What exactly is an LMFT?

An LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. LMFTs are relationship therapists who focus on any/all relationships within a person’s life, including spouses, children, parents, siblings, friends, bosses, etc.

Requirements for licensure include a related doctoral or two-year master’s degree, passage of a comprehensive written and oral examination, and at least 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience.
